Conflict-Related VAWG Prevalence: Methodological & Ethical

GWI is working to develop a standardized methodology for conducting research on violence against women and girls in conflict

To bring the expertise together to develop this standard, GWI and the World Health Organization (WHO) convened an experts meeting on Conducting Population-Based Surveys on GBV in Conflict and Humanitarian Settings in February 2015. Scholars and practitioners from around the world met to review and discuss methodological and ethical challenges, and gaps in knowledge when conducting GBV surveys with women and men in humanitarian and conflict settings. The meeting participants generated guidance and made recommendations to develop relevant tools and methodological standards for estimating prevalence for different types of GBV and addressing causes and consequences. GWI continues to work on a methodology taking into account these recommendations and best practices to conduct surveys on GBV.

This work is made possible through the generous support of the Australian Government Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
