Shiva Kumar

A. K. Shiva Kumar (Shiv) is a development economist who works on issues related to human development, poverty, health, nutrition, basic education, and the rights of women and children.  He serves as senior consultant and policy advisor to UNICEF India and was, until recently, the Director of the International Centre for Human Development in New Delhi, India. He is Co-Chair of the Know Violence in Childhood – a global learning initiative that is synthesizing evidence to advocate for ending violence. Mr. Kumar has also been active in the field of development evaluation. He is a visiting professor at the Ashoka University and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government where he teaches economics and public policy. Mr. Kumar has is M.S from Bangalore University and his post-graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He also completed a M.P.A and Ph.D in Political Economy and Government from Harvard University.
